'Rock Climbing' the fastest growing sport
of the decade...Why?...Testing your skill, technique and fitness against
gravity whilst safeguarding your progress with rope and the right
equipment, where mind and body combine to successfully complete a
challenging climb provides you with a buzz, reward and satisfaction
that non climbers can never fully comprehend!
This course is an ideal safe introduction to this
challenging and exciting "MAX" sport of the Nineties and
Millenium. It is also ideal
for indoor climbers venturing outdoors for the first time.

Professional qualified climbing instruction on some of Scotland's
finest crags. All relevant topics are covered including clothing,
equipment selection, rope management, anchor selection, belaying, top
roping, leading, runner placement, multi-pitch, use of guidebooks and
route choice as well as emergency procedures.
The subjects are taught in a practical situation, and
each day is spent out on the crags giving you an excellent chance to learn
and progress through the rock grades quickly and safely. We will be using
different crags and outcrops near the Cairngorms, Speyside and the NE
during the week, such as Duntelchaig, Kingussie Crag, Huntley's Cave, the sandstone sea cliffs of the Moray Firth the playground of
shoals of dolphin at Cummingston and Logie Head. If the weather is
suitable a day multi-pitch rock climbing in the glacier sculptured corries
of the beautiful Cairngorm National Park mountain range is possible.

There will also be rock climbing courses run in the Central Belt of
Scotland utilising the crags in and around the Glasgow, Stirling, and
Edinburgh areas such as Auchinstarry, Hawcraig and if the weather is
suitable multi-pitch climbing on the Cobbler near Arrocher or
Craig-a-barns, Dunkeld.
The indoor climbing walls at Glenmore Lodge and Inverness
will be used as bad weather venues. Inverness has good lead routes where
it is possible to practice placing nuts, hexes and using slings for
protection. All of these
locations will allow an awareness of different styles and situations to
develop and you will be encouraged to lead climbs under expert
supervision during the week at many of these locations.
