Snow on the tops and wet socks

The Cairngorms have been looking quite wintry over the past few days however the snow has fallen on very wet, warm and saturated ground. We need a long period of cold frosty weather before any substantial snow fall to freeze the ground and bring things into decent winter climbing condition.
